Woodburn win Kwik Cricket Tournament

Carrickfergus Cricket Club held its annual Kwik Cricket tournament for local primary schools at Middle Road last Monday, with over 80 children taking part. Woodburn PS were the eventual winners, defeating Greenisland PS by just 3 runs in a closely contested final. Both sides contained a number of players from the Cricket Club's Under 11 team. The Cub is grateful to Subway for their continued sponsorship of the event, and proprietor of the local franchise, Mr David Montgomery was on hand with mascot "Subman" to present the trophy to winning captain Kyle Hutton. The tournament was well organised by Carrick coach Ross Gelderbloem who along with Cricket Ireland Talent Identification Officer Ryan Eagleson and other club coaches, kept an eye on preceedings. The local club wishes Woodburn PS good luck in the Northern Ireland Regional Finals held at Stormont this week.
