Carrickfergus Cricket Club 1st XI made it safely through to the 2nd Round of the Irish Senior Cup with an emphatic emphatic 118-run victory at home to Coleraine on Saturday.
After a Michael Gilmour and Iain Parkhill had given them a solid start, half centuries from Jack Burton and Daniel Poulton saw them share an excellent 4th wicket stand of 121 on their way to 237 for 8.
Burton hit 8 fours and a six as he top scored with 87 from 130 balls, while Poulton cleared the ropes three times and hit 2 fours in his 54-ball 65.
The Bannsiders reply never really got going, bogged down against some excellent, tight bowling, especially from spinners Pat Botha and Ryan Eagleson.
Eagleson took 5 for 15 with Anthony Martin taking 2 for 26 as Coleraine were bowled out in the 41st for just 118.
