Acorn PS win Kwik Cricket Tournament
Carrickfergus Cricket Club held their annual Primary School's Kwik Cricket tournament last week at Middle Road.
Due to other committments only 6 of the 11 schools where the club is providing weekly coaching sessions were able to take part. Those schools who participated in the tournament were Woodlawn, Woodburn, Acorn, St Nicholas, Central and Eden. Teams were split into 2 groups and played each other on the round robin basis with the top 2 teams from each group progressing to the semi finals. The 4 teams that went through were: Eden, Acorn, Woodlawn and St Nicholas. Eden and Acorn both won their respective games and went on to compete in the final for the trophy and the opportunity to represent their school at the finals day, which was held at Stormont on the 18th of June. Acorn beat Eden in a thrilling final, and became 2018 Kwik Cricket Champions of Carrickfergus for the first time. The Club would like to thank Daniel Poulton and the other coaches who made the day a very enjoyable one for the youngsters taking part.
