Jack Russell paints Carrickfergus Cricket Club

Carrickfergus Cricket Club are now the proud owners of a painting of their Middle Road ground by the former England wicketkeeper, Jack Russell. He has been a professional artist for almost 30 years and his paintings and sketches on a variety of subjects are to be found in public and private collections worldwide.

The painting was commissioned in 2018 by former club member Michael Boyd, who is now a successful businessman in the United States, and wished to show his gratitude for the happy years he spent with the club in his younger days.

It depicts a match at Middle Road, and includes, watching from the boundary, several leading club members from Mr Boyd’s era at the club to the present day, who are identified in a key which is to be displayed in the Clubhouse next to the painting. A limited edition print was also made available to purchase by club members, and this soon sold out.

The Club would like to express their gratitude to Michael Boyd for his generous gesture, and to Jack Russell for his excellent work, which will now be appreciated by members and visitors to the club for years to come.
